Ribbit Mobile

British Telecom had just acquired Ribbit Corporation, a Silicon Valley voice-cloud platform, for $105 million. They needed a consumer brand to sit on top of it, and there was nothing but a interesting name and a logo.

Ribbit Mobile launched as a consumer service connecting landline and mobile phones to the internet through voicemail transcription, unlimited inbox, smart call routing, voice memos, caller ID, and web-based calling. The brand had to make all of that feel friendly, light, and human, not telecom. A blue sky and wide-open green field gave the brand an optimistic backdrop. Every product feature got a hand-drawn icon. A "Hi Bob" speech bubble became a recurring character that ran through the work. Devices, call paths, and feature diagrams were illustrated by hand, giving even the most technical pages a drawn-on-paper warmth.

The system rolled out across a multi-platform website, a full Facebook brand presence and apps, email programs, customer testimonial videos, banner advertising, OOH, and product packaging. "Transform your phone. Transform your Life." anchored the work. Every touchpoint spoke the same visual vocabulary of sky, grass, and characters.
